Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is a spin off of the show
Star Trek: The Next Generation which of course is a spin off of the
Original Star Trek starring William Shatner as James T. Kirk.
DS9 as it is some times called takes place in the 24th century aboard a space station on the fringe of federation space. It was a long running show lasting 6 seasons but had mixed reviews with die hard trek fans. Though I really enjoyed it.
The one charter that I enjoyed most was Quark who was the Bar Owner of the local pub on the station. He was a Ferengi and as such is motivated mostly by greed which adds many twists and turns to the plots of many episodes.
